BBC
Dear Irene,
Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in South Africa.
We appreciate that you remain unhappy that Casualty has taken a break on BBC Entertainment and that you'd like to see Holby City back on the channel as well. As mentioned in our previous response Casualty will be returning in May 2013 and it is sometimes necessary for programmes to take a short break but we always endeavour to bring programmes to you as soon as possible.
Regarding Holby City, in our previous response to you we explained the reasons why this series is no longer on BBC Entertainment and the relevant extract from this response is copied below for you in case you did not see this on the site:
"Our research and ratings data provided by DStv told us that Holby City was not working in South Africa. When planning our schedules for the channel we have a commitment to both viewers in providing quality entertainment and also to DStv which, like other platforms, sets us specific performance criteria to achieve in order that their viewers are getting the best from their channels. Careful consideration is taken when planning the schedules for our channels and the reality was that Holby City had continually been losing viewers and accordingly we took the decision to try something different in the hope that this will appeal to more viewers. We do appreciate that it can be upsetting for some viewers when one of their favourite programmes is removed from the schedule and we hope our explanation has gone some way in explaining why this decision was taken in relation to Holby City."
Thank you for contacting us.
Best wishes,
BBC Worldwide Channels
