Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy, the head of the Shelby clan, for series five of Steven Knight's crime family saga. Also set to return are Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby), Finn Cole (Michael Gray), Sophie Rundle (Ada Thorne) and Helen McCrory (Polly Gray), with Anya Taylor-Joy (The Handmaid's Tale) and Charlene McKenna (Ripper Street) joining them.
The financial crash of 1929 causes chaos around the world, but it also creates many new opportunities - and the Shelbys are keen to take full advantage. Tommy, having been elected as MP for Birmingham South at the end of the last series, is now a wealthy businessman. He is approached by charismatic politician Oswald Mosley (played by The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin), who shares with him a vision for Britain.
Tommy's decision will not only affect his family's future, but also that of the nation. How will he bear up with his increasingly fragile mental state? And there's sure to be more dangerous enemies and dirty money on the cards.
