The highly-acclaimed, Oscar-winning Dame Helen Mirren stars in this four-part period drama, set in the 18th century, about strong-minded, independent Russian leader Catherine the Great, whose personal and professional lives were equally fascinating.
The series follows the Empress towards the end of her reign, a time in which she enjoyed a passionate affair with Grigory Potemkin (Jason Clarke – Pet Sematary, Terminator Genisys) as the pair face treachery and betrayal while continuing in their quest to make Russia one of the great powers of Europe. Among the star-studded cast are Bafta-winner Gina McKee (Line of Duty, Bodyguard), Rory Kinnear (Years and Years, Skyfall) and Richard Roxburgh (Moulin Rouge).
Comic mystery series, based on the novels by MC Beaton, starring Ashley Jensen (Extras, Ugly Betty) as retired PR guru Agatha, who moves to an apparently quiet village in the Cotswolds. Pilot episode The Quiche of Death sees Agatha become the prime suspect in a murder, and she quickly turns sleuth in a bid to clear her name, and possibly woo her neighbour in the process.
Series one then follows Agatha as she tries to ingratiate herself in village life while attempting to win the affections of handsome neighbour James – played by Jamie Glover (Holby City, Waterloo Road).
However, murder abounds in the supposedly sleepy village, with a bell ringer, a vet, a witch and a bride among the unlucky residents meeting untimely ends.
Will the amateur detective be able to find the culprits, or will her meddling cause her to become the next target? Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey) and Katy Wix (Not Going Out) also star.
