Turkish coffee is quite an acquired taste. It’s very strong and slightly bitter with the coffee granules sitting at the bottom of the cup. Like with the tea leaves that sit at the bottom of your cup and are used to read your fortune, so the same can be done with the Turkish coffee.
If you’re short on time you can leave out the mendiants and just serve the coffee cream as is. The coffee syrup gives the cream that serious coffee hit just like the coffee I had in Istanbul – it will leave you buzzing!
